Je ne me souviens plus de la première fois où j'ai entendu Tiger Lou, mais je me rappelle parfaitement la fois où je l'ai vu en live. C'était au festival Popaganda, en 2004. Il avait été programmé en début d'après-midi. Son premier album Is my head still on? venait de sortir. Il pleuvait. Nous n'étions pas bien nombreux à le regarder sur scène : 30, 40 personnes, selon mes souvenirs. Je peine à me rappeler si son single Oh Horatio était déjà sorti. Il fut propulsé "single of the week" sur le MTV Scandinave. Etonnant. Ce qui me surprenait aussi était l'apparente timidité du groupe, peu expansif, plutôt concentré sur sa musique.
Depuis ce jour là, j'ai souvent écouté Is my head still on? du début à la fin et je le considère vraiment comme un grand disque, sans aucune réelle faute de goût. Un album de pop-folk classique qui s'impose grâce à la voix de ce chanteur au talent évident. Depuis, Rasmus et sa bande ont sorti un deuxième album The Loyal, plus tendu et plus sombre, mais légèrement moins convaincant. Aujourd'hui agé de 25 ans,Tiger Lou connaît un réel succès dans son pays. A quand une carrière internationale ?

I cannot remember the first time I heard about Tiger Lou but I did remember when I saw him live. It was in the Popaganda Festival of 2004, in Stockholm. His first album Is my head still on? was just released. He played at the start of the afternoon. It was raining. In my memories we were just about 30 or 40 people watching him singing. I remember I thought those guys looked really shy but I did like the songs.
I do think this first album is a trully masterpiece that you can listen to from the start to the end without skipping songs. Great melodies and great voice. I'm a bit less convinced by the second album The Loyal, released last year. Even if I like the fact that he tried to evolve in another darker direction, some songs of the album remain a bit so so. But there are some really good songs as well such as The Loyal, Until I'm there or Patterns. Anyway, now the tiger is 25 and is quite well known in Sweden. An international career might follow.
